Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary is an eminent political leader and currently holds the distinguished position of Hon’ble Minister for Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Act East Policy Affairs, and Parliamentary Affairs in the Government of Assam.

•⁠  ⁠Spouse: Shri Patowary is married to Dr. Rita Chowdhury, a highly acclaimed figure who is an Eminent Author,

   a recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award, and formerly served as the Director of the National Book

   Trust under the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

•⁠  ⁠Children: The couple has a son, Shri Abhiruk Patowary, and a daughter, Smti. Kristie Kashyap.

During (1978 to 1985)
Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary was the General Secretary of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) During the Assam Movement, he was detained under National Security Act (NSA) and Preventive Detention (PD) Act.
During (1985)
The Assam Accord was signed on 15th August, 1985 amongst Union of India, Govt. of Assam, All Assam Student Union, All Assam Gana Sangram Parishad. A new political party, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) was formed at a convention held from October 13-14, 1985 in Golaghat. In 1985, Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary joined AGP and was elected as a Secretary of the party.

MLA, Dharmapur LAC from Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) party and Minister, Health and Family Welfare for a short period.

MLA, Dharmapur LAC as an independent candidate.
